At One600 Mils, our mission is to leverage the therapeutic benefits of gaming to support veterans, creating a safe and inclusive community that fosters connection, mental health, and personal growth. We are committed to ensuring that no veteran faces their challenges alone, using innovative solutions to combat loneliness, isolation, and depression. By providing access to resources and mental health professionals, we aim to offer comprehensive support to veterans, helping them transition smoothly into civilian life.
Seth Johnson, an Army veteran, and Elliott Madl, a Marine veteran, both faced the challenging transition from military to civilian life, struggling with feelings of loneliness and isolation. Motivated by their experiences and a shared desire to support others like them, they envisioned a community space specifically for veterans residing in Virginia.
Their inspiration came from their time as volunteers with the Warrior GMR Foundation, During their involvement, they witnessed how gaming could serve as a bridge to connect veterans and alleviate feelings of isolation.
They engaged in peer support, sharing stories and offering advice to fellow veterans. This camaraderie became a vital part of their healing journey, offering both emotional support and practical guidance.
Recognizing the transformative power of community and gaming, Seth and Elliott decided to establish a space specifically for Virginia veterans. They envisioned a place where veterans could gather to connect, share experiences, and access resources. With their firsthand understanding of the challenges veterans face, they aimed to offer comprehensive support, including access to mental health professionals and vocational assistance.
By creating this dedicated space, Seth Johnson and Elliott Madl hope to empower Virginia veterans to navigate post-service life with confidence and resilience. Their initiative embodies the mission of fostering a supportive network where veterans can thrive, building on the values they experienced within the Warrior GMR Foundation.
